Living in Nufringen. A slide show with photos and sound effects that gives our first reactions to everyday life. Our house in Nufringen was much larger than you might guess by looking at it from the street. It's a Cape Cod style with a great room, kitchen/dining area and 3 bedrooms on the first floor. Upstairs is a very large all-purpose room -- we used it as a bedroom for the boys -- and a small work room. There's a basement with storage rooms and pantry. And a fully equipped apartment. The fenced backyard was accessible from sliding doors from two bedrooms, and a standard door off the great room.
German decorations. We saw plenty of junk! Here are pieces that we treasure. We visited the Licht Haus and saw these ceramic mantel pieces being made.
English Morning Tea. A social group for women with the goal to exchange cultural information. English Morning Tea group
Public Bake House. Barbara joined the Tea Group, baking for the day. Showing off the fruits from the day
Maultaschen. Our favorite Swabian dish. maulcook.jpg (102903 bytes)
Ski trip to Kleinwalsertal. Family vacation to Austria, in a skiing valley accessible only from Germany. At the base of the main chairlift, one of three primary ski areas in the Kleinwalsertal Valley. Two of the mountains boast a 2000 meter elevation, with vertical drops of nearly 3000 feet.
Bacharach on the Rhine. A popular tourist destination in Germany, for good reason! Old watchtower in front of vinyards
Long weekend in Paris. Kids in tow and rain made for a most unromantic getaway. There were bright spots though; let us tell you about them!
Visiting Holland, a cosmopolitan destination. We found the Dutch hospitality, international orientation, and profuse use of English as very soothing. Crooked buildings atop the dike in Volendam
